Into the Mystic

Into the Mystic Beach House is our family’s beachfront home in a the small fishing village of Chelem, within the Municipality of Progreso, Mexico.

This charming 2-story house is set up for comfortable, modern living, with a fully equipped kitchen, air-conditioned bedrooms, a swimming pool, and direct access to the beach. The downstairs bedrooms, pool, and courtyard are fully handicap-accessible.

The upstairs loft includes a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 1 shared bathroom. The front bedroom opens to a veranda with stunning Gulf of Mexico views, while the back balcony overlooks the swimming pool and a courtyard filled with flowers and fruit.

The downstairs living space features a spacious living room, large kitchen with a view of the sea, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. Hammock hooks are installed in every bedroom.

Days often begin with a swim or a quiet walk along the beach, and end in the courtyard, resting in a hammock among native plants. The sea is crystal clear around Easter: perfect for snorkeling! Nearby day trips include the Maya ruins at Dzibilchaltún where you can marvel at the equinox; tranquil cenotes for swimming; and local reefs for diving.
